Recently, we lost the highly talented actor Robin Williams (‘Hook,’ ‘Night of the Museum’) and with a ‘World of Warcraft’ tribute already in the works, one has to wonder if Nintendo will follow suit. For those that didn’t know, one of Robin Williams greatest passions was for Nintendo. Not only Nintendo, but specifically ‘The Legend of Zelda.’

A petition was made at Change.org by Nick Schaedel to Nintendo to include Williams’ likeness in the next ‘Legend of Zelda’ game. Actually the petition only asks for his name to be included, but I don’t see why they shouldn’t go the full way. So, why are they wanting him to be included you might ask? Well to quote Schaedel directly:

“Robin was an avid player of video games, with a love for all things Nintendo, and a particular love of all things Legend of Zelda. I would like to suggest that when the [next Zelda release] is localized to English, Nintendo of America and the Treehouse name one of the characters ‘Robin’ in his memory. He won’t get to play it, but he’ll live on forever in a universe he always loved.”

Yes, he loved Zelda but how much? There is a great story behind that as he named his daughter after his favorite princess in the game. The commercials for the 2011 released actually featured just that!

I mean if a man as famous as Robin Williams is going to name his daughter after your princess, it seems like a no brainer to include him in the game, even if only as a character name. As the next Zelda looks to be one of the most innovative takes on the franchise yet, I’d think it would be the perfect place to introduce a lively character who happens to warn our lead that it’s dangerous to go alone and gives him one of his swords!
