The CW has released a few videos already that showcase ‘The Flash’/Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), as well as supporting players Iris West (Candice Patton), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh).  One character that hasn’t yet been featured is Detective Eddie Thawne played by Rick Cosnett.

It’s not exactly sure what role Thawne will play on the series.  We do know that the Reverse-Flash plays a role on the show, apparently as the true killer of Barry’s mother, at least as conveyed by Barry during his guest stint on ‘Arrow’.  In the comics, the real name of The Reverse-Flash, also known as Professor Zoom, is Eobard Thawne.  Is “Eddie” a variation on that name?  If so, does that make him the Reverse-Flash?  He seems awfully young to have killed Nora Allen (played in flashbacks by Michelle Harrison), when Barry was just a child.  But then again, time travel has constantly played a role in The Flash’s comic history and from what I hear about the pilot, it will factor into the TV series as well.

In this new featurette, we get our first exposure to Eddie Thawne in a clip narrated by Candice Patton.  We see that Thawne is somewhat smug and cocky.  Barry reveals that Thawne is a transfer from Keystone City, the home of the original Flash Jay Garrick and later the “twin city” of Barry’s hometown Central City after the multiple Earths were combined during ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths’.

Iris doesn’t seem to like Eddie from the get-go and refers to him as “Detective Prettyboy”… but could things change?

Check out the clip for yourself below:

What do you think?  Do we have our Professor Zoom/Reverse-Flash?  Or is Eddie Thawne a red herring?  Will the show throw fans a curve-ball and introduce a different Reverse-Flash?
