Warner Brothers purportedly wanted to make a big announcement at San Diego Comic Con about its upcoming DC Comics movies, but that has apparently been scuttled with the list leaking early.  Just for the record, this is reportedly what DC has in the pipeline for theatrical release:

May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam
Xmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2

Now noted man-in-the-know Kevin Smith has seemingly confirmed that this is in fact Warner Brothers’ plan.  Smith has had an inside track on the development of ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ from the beginning, having seen the Batman suit months before it was revealed to the public.  Smith is not only friends with director Zack Snyder, but Ben Affleck as well (who is starring as Batman/Bruce Wayne and who has appeared in six movies that Smith has directed).  Smith himself was brought in, during the 90s, to script a Superman movie that never came to fruition.

During his SModcast, Smith admitted that he’d seen the list of planned DC movies but attempted not to reveal too much.  But ultimately, when pressed he simply stated “Because I know people, motherf**ker.”  He did finally relent and state, “I looked at your list and I was like, yeah, that’s what I heard, that’s what I was told.”  And since Smith is clearly in the loop when it comes to these projects, I think we can fairly bank on the leaked list as authentic, at least for the time being.

You may recall earlier that Dwayne Johnson was rumored to be in talks to play a DC character, with many fans pulling for him to play Black Adam.  With ‘Shazam’ in the works, it’s very possible that this could come true… or could “The Rock” actually be cast as the lead hero?

For what it’s worth, even though Smith isn’t involved creatively with any of the DC movies, he does heartily endorse these planned movies.  “That just gave me a reason to live,” he exclaimed, “This is a list that would make f**king Grumpy Cat smile, dude.”

What do you think?  Does this list make you happy?
