We learn the fate of Green Lantern in this issue, who seemingly was killed previously.  It also appears we get a nice nude shot of him rendered by Nicola Scott, so I’m not going to complain about that.

Elsewhere the other heroes attempt to regroup.  Doctor Fate is still somewhat dazed, as Red Arrow and Jimmy try and understand his ramblings.  Lois/Red Tornado meanwhile takes their newly discovered Kryptonian Val-Zod under her wing.

On the villain side of the equation, Superman discovers the existence of the new Batman.  It’s unclear if he realizes that this is Thomas Wayne or if he thinks it’s Bruce.  But at any rate, he takes a squad of Parademons and heads to Gotham, bringing him into conflict with Lois, Val and Hawkgirl.

The art is really gorgeous as usual.  Like all of it.  There’s not much more to say than that.

That said, the writing, while certainly not bad, doesn’t do much to advance the overall story.  It seems like it’s been a while since there was a really big development in this title.  Hopefully with the confrontation with Superman we’ll see something exciting next issue.

Another problem I’m having is keeping track of which characters are with which other characters and where they are supposed to be.  There are a LOT of characters in this series.

On a more positive note, there is actually a lot of really good character development.

So art-wise this issue was excellent, but unfortunately the story was a bit slow and I’d like the story to speed up a little and for there to be some resolution to at least a couple of ongoing plot threads.
