Even before ‘Thor: The Dark World’ helmer Alan Taylor has officially signed on to direct the reboot of ‘Terminator’ for Paramount, it looks like the studio has narrowed down its choices to play Sarah Connor, the iconic heroine from James Cameron’s first two movies in the franchise played by Linda Hamilton on the big screen and Lena Headey on television in ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’. Previously, word on the street said that three names were in contention, but now, there are only two.
Brie Larson of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke are the frontrunners for the role and are being tested by producers. However, considering her past work relationship with Taylor, it seems that the Khaleesi has a distinct advantage. Also, the Mother of Dragons is a fan favorite and she shares many physical attributes with Connor, so audiences may be able to make that connection a lot easier. But don’t count Larson out just yet. After appearing in ‘Short Term 12’, ‘Don Jon’, and ‘The Spectacular Now’ this year, the actress has shown that she is certainly versatile, so she could end up knocking the role out of the park if given the opportunity.
In addition to Sarah Connor appearing in the new film, her love interest Kyle Reese and her son John Connor are also slated to appear as well. It’s currently unknown whether John will appear as a kid or an adult, but sources say that no matter what, star of the original films Arnold Schwarzenegger is still meant to appear in the new version that is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2015.
