To top showings of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘ Peter Jackson clearly knew he’d need something special in mind. His solution to something fun and new? On Mondaym November 4th, the director will hold a world wide fan celebration by having the cast of the film answer questions from fans and streaming it around the world. The catch? The Q&As will be held in New York, Los Angeles, London and New Zealand live and simultaneously.

Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien and the films will have a chance to see the actors behind beloved characters such Legolas and Gollum and personally ask them questions about the film and their experience. The event will be hosted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper in the New York location and will have both Richard Armitage (‘Captain America: The First Avenger‘) and Orlando Bloom (‘The Lord of the Rings‘) in attendance. The London location will feature Lee Pace (‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘), Luke Evans (‘Immortals‘), and Andy Serkis (‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes‘), in Los Angeles, actress Evangeline Lilly (‘Real Steel‘) will appear and finally at the event’s location in Wellington, New Zealand, audience members will  see Peter Jackson in attendance.

In addition to the live screenings and Q&A’s, Jackson will unveil new footage from the film! Fans who are unable to attend these special Q&As can still be part of the celebration as Jackson has also arranged that theaters around the world stream the event on the big screen. If you still can’t make those viewings, the event will also stream live online (however, the online version will include an edited version of the new footage those in the theaters will be seeing.).

It almost sounds better to see the online version with the new footage! Because of the limited locations that are actually a part of the event, without a doubt, this fan celebration will sell out quickly. The idea of increasing the audience experience is always a bonus for any film. On a blockbuster such as ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ you don’t really need to do anything extra, so the fact that Peter Jackson is doing it is pretty awesome.

Would you love to be in attendance of one of these screenings? Do you plan on setting it up to check it out online? Jealous that your city isn’t included on that list? Sound off below!

Synopsis:

‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company continues East, encountering along the way the skin-changer Beorn and a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood. After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the Dwarves journey to Lake-town, and finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all – a creature more terrifying than any other; one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself – the Dragon Smaug.

‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ is directed by Peter Jackson and will open in theaters on December 11, 2013.
