the-x-files-conspiracyIt’s really only fitting that after IDW picked up the tenth season of ‘The X-Files’ that they introduced them to the greater IDW universe. The forth major IDW crossover is coming and it’s doing just that and will start in ‘The X-Files: Conspiracy’.

After 2 previous ‘Infestation’ themed series that had crossed ‘G.I.Joe‘, ‘Transformers’, ‘Star Trek’, and more together from an interstellar zombie virus that could infect both man and machine, we had a great introduction to what IDW could do. The last crossover was themed as a ‘Mars Attack’ event and finally it looks like we’re getting something for the conspiracy fanatics out there. While there is no hints of zombies, cultists, or aliens from Mars, it looks as if the X-Files will be standing front and center against the end of the world in this latest event.

‘The X-Files: Conspiracy’ will result from a case that FBI’s most infamous agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, are working on. It will tie in with ‘Transformers’, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, ‘The Crow’ and ‘Ghostbusters’. The investigation is all based around a plague that is set to destroy humanity (could it in fact be tied to ‘Infestation’?) that the two are feverishly working against the clock to prevent!

With already what seems to be a big cast and potential set of adversaries, we won’t see the two working alone! Somehow the Lone Gunmen will also end up being involved to help out (and possibly be the ones who brings some of the cases to Mulder and Scully in the first place?). Personally, I hope to see the Lone Gunmen have to have a talk with the Ghostbusters as that would be some prime back and forth conversation for them to give us. Also, as I mentioned above, that while this event wasn’t necessarily related to the prior crossovers, I wouldn’t be too surprised if they slipped something into a file for either the agents or their friends that references one or all of these previous crossover events. How fitting would that be?

Are you fans of IDW’s take on these franchises already? Have you loved what they did with the previous crossovers and like the look of this one as well? Sound off below with your thoughts on how IDW has been tying their universes together!
