In less than a month, the long awaited film, ‘Ender’s Game’ will be in theaters. Despite all the controversy surrounding the author of the source book, Orson Scott Card, the movie itself is one that many fans of the novel have been waiting to see on the big screen.

After several trailers, posters and images, Summit Entertainment has now released the first clip featuring Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) providing a solution to Ender Wiggin’s (Asa Butterfield) problem with authority. Check it out below:

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

It’s good to see a clip with some levity as so far the promotion has mainly focused on the film’s action and CGI aspects, which admittedly are very impressive. With the book being such a classic piece of literature in the science fiction world, there is some worry that the film will not live up to the novel. Here’s hoping that ‘Ender’s Game’ will have fans loving the film adaptation of the book much like the fans of ‘The Hunger Games’ novel loved their movie version.

‘Ender’s Game’ will hit theaters on November 1 and stars Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Viola Davis.
