As each week goes by, there is no shortage of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ rumors. While there ended up being some truth to the rumor of Saoirse Ronan being involved in the upcoming film, there’s still no hard evidence supporting Benedict Cumberbatch’s involvement. Now, another big name in Hollywood is being associated with J.J. Abrams’ new chapter of a story from a galaxy far, far away.

According to a tweet from Latino Review’s El Mayimbe, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy was spotted having lunch the other day with the man who started it all, George Lucas. However, there was one more person seated with them. Two of the biggest names in ‘Star Wars’ history were joined at Bistro in San Rafael, CA by the incredibly gifted actor Daniel Day-Lewis. Known for his roles in such films as ‘Lincoln’, ‘There Will Be Blood’, ‘Gangs of New York’, and ‘Last of the Mohicans’, the three-time Oscar winner has a wide range and an insane ability to fully embody whatever role he’s playing, whether it be a stone cold killer or a former President of the United States. Day-Lewis also isn’t really the type to be seen around town doing lunch too often, so it’s possible that Lucas and Kennedy came calling for a very good reason. After all, he only does a movie every few years these days, so they must have enticed him out with something juicy.

While there is no confirmation anywhere regarding what was said during this lunch meeting, ‘Episode VII’ is currently deep into the casting process. With an actor like Day-Lewis joining the franchise, it’s hard not to think that the last time someone of his caliber was brought in was when Liam Nesson appeared in ‘The Phantom Menace’. I for one definitely would not mind seeing Bill “The Butcher” Cutting as a mentor to the next great Jedi or Sith.

What do you think went down at this lunch with George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, and Daniel Day-Lewis? Do you think that he’ll be joining the new ‘Star Wars’ trilogy? If her were to be cast in the ‘Episode VII’, what sort of character do you see him playing? Maybe one of the parts revealed in the character breakdown from a while back? Share all your thoughts and theories in the comment section.
