Even before the second season of ‘American Horror Story’ took a bow, FX renewed the anthological horror series from the creators of ‘Glee’ and ‘Nip/Tuck’ for a third season. Set in New Orleans and titled ‘American Horror Story: Coven’, the new chapter brings back the show’s past stars like , Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, and Taissa Farmiga and mixes them with amazing new additions like Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, and the legendary Patti LuPone.
While not much news has emerged about ‘Coven’, we do know that the story will focus on witchcraft throughout multiple time periods and feature real life serial killer Madam LaLaurie, played by Bates, and voodoo practitioner Marie Laveau, played by Bassett. But to give us a slight idea of what’s to come, a new teaser trailer has been released which brings us an incredibly eerie and very brief video set to ‘The House of the Rising Sun’:
Additionally, another short teaser called ‘Pins and Needles’ hit the web as well and it might not be for the easily freaked out. My guess is that Ryan Murphy was like, “Hmmm… I need a promo that’ll really make my audience uneasy.” Well, he succeeded if that is in fact what he was going for. Since it’s inception, ‘American Horror Story’ has utilized some really freaky stuff to promote their show and with these new teasers, it doesn’t look like they’re about to stop now.
