We already know a lot about the upcoming X-Men movie. We know that it takes place int he 70’s, that it will deal with Trask Industries and their Sentinels, and finally that James Marsden won’t return as Cyclops.

But wait… there’s more!

Brian Singer recently sat down for a Q&A with the audience at The Fantasia International Film Festival. While he spoke about quite a few of his past projects the main talking points we care about right now is everything he let out about ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.

Visually the film was actually shot in native 3D. So for those of you who are 3D fans, you are going to be in for a treat and not have a ton of added on effects that were put in after the fact. Sure there, of course, will be some but the 3D will be good.

Onto the plot! It appears that the film mostly takes place in 1973. The portions that are set in the future take place roughly 10 years after the events in ‘X3’. We’re going to see a lot of stress on the actors that were in ‘First Class’ as the major stars in the film. Sadly with Cyclops dying in that film, Singer didn’t have a way to bring him back that would work the same as he had with Xavier.

For casting, while we know Evan Peters (‘American Horror Story’) is set to play Quicksilver we’ve all been wondering who will be playing The Scarlet Witch? With all of the news on her outfit changing in Marvel’s ‘Age of Ultron’, I was beginning to think that was partially to not conflict with her classic outfit here. Apparently I was wrong. While we will be visiting the Maximoff residence, it will only be to see Quicksilver on screen as there will not be a Scarlet Witch appearance.

We will however be seeing William Stryker and he will be played by Josh Helman, who will now be the forth actor to fill Stryker’s boots.

No Scarlet Witch? A new Stryker? Mainly in the 70’s? What are your thoughts on the latest news coming out about ‘Days of Future Past’?

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ starring Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Booboo Stewart, Lucas Till, and Evan Peters hits theaters on July 18, 2014.
