Yesterday, thanks to Entertainment Weekly’s Comic-Con preview issue, we got our first look at Jamie Foxx as Electro in full supervillain regalia as he stood toe to toe with Spider-Man on the cover of the magazine. Now, thanks to Comic Book Movie, we have even more exclusive pictures from the magazine featuring the stars of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.

In this batch of stills, we see the likes of Foxx (pre-blue period), Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich (the man who becomes the Rhino), and Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker/Spider-Man. However, the crowning glory is the two full-page images of Spider-Man and Electro. These two publicity shots are our first real look at their costumes in Marc Webb’s upcoming sequel. You can check them all out in the gallery below:

The most interesting thing about this set of pictures is by far the former Max Dillon. Not only do we see more details of his suit, which seems to be a variation on the ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ comic version, but we also see for the first time the apparatus on the side of the villain’s head. I don’t recall that ever being included in the source material, so I’m curious to see what it’s functionality is. At first glance, I was reminded of a scouter from ‘Dragonball Z’, but then I remembered that no one uses them anymore. (You know, because everyone just hides their true powers.)

Another interesting thing worth noting is that in the picture of Pete’s room, there are clues supposedly scattered throughout his mess. It’s hard to pick out any specifically, but I think that I can spot pictures of Gwen and Harry Osborn on the corkboard. Also, the textbooks on the side of his bed might be something that could come into play, as it’s possible that Peter uses his knowledge of Chemistry to defeat his enemies, but that one might be stretching it. If you find anything noteworthy in that picture, be sure to share it with the class.

Now that we’re seeing a lot more peeks into the world of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, how do you think it’ll stack up against it’s predecessor? In fact, how do you think it will measure up against Sam Raimi’s second go with the web-slinger? Let us know what you’re thinking in the comments below.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, and Sally Field is set to hit theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014.
