While there are new cast members being added as recently as a few days ago to Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, there are still some people whose characters are still a mystery to us. However, one actor can be moved into the “Mystery Solved” column… probably.

Previously, ‘The Following’ star Adan Canto was revealed as a member of the massive ensemble in Singer’s return to the X-Men franchise. Back then, I had hypothesized that he could be playing either Sunspot or some version of Sunfire based on the fact that he tweeted in response to an X-Men inquiry, “I might turn into a ball of fire if someone pisses me off”. But now, Digital Spy may have uncovered the Mexican actor’s true role.

The report says that a fan had tweeted Canto saying that they were excited to see him play Sunspot. He replied by saying, “Thanks! Next summer.” But soon after posting that, the post was deleted. Naturally, the internet is far too fast not to catch something like that. Sorry, Mr. Singer! Looks like someone let the cat out of the bag.

A native of Brazil, Bobby da Costa AKA Sunspot has the power to absorb solar energy and then redirect it as energy blasts. Currently, the mutant appears as a member of the X-Men and the Avengers, but the fan favorite has made appearances (usually with his buddy Cannonball) on other teams such as the New Mutants, X-force, and the Hellfire Club. In the comic version of the ‘Days of Future Past’ timeline, Sunspot is the leader of the mutant terrorist organization known as the Gene Nation, but who knows if he’ll retain that role in Singer’s film if that is indeed who Canto will be playing.
