With ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ set to hit theaters over the lucrative Thanksgiving holiday later this year, casting has begun for the final two movies, which are based on ‘Mockingjay,’ the last book in the trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Without giving plot points away, a character named Alma Coin becomes prominent in the final installments, and currently under heavy consideration for the role is the uber talented and poised Julianne Moore.

Fresh off the successes of starring roles in ‘The Kids Are All Right,’ HBO’s ‘Game Change,’ and numerous others, Moore is perfectly suited for the part of the cunning politician. If casted, Moore’s connection to the ‘Hunger Games’ trilogy won’t be the only degree of Kevin Bacon to the franchise; ‘Game Change’ writer and ‘Buffy’ alum Danny Strong will have also penned the script for the final two ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ installments.

Book readers may have expected someone a bit older, what with her description in ‘Mockingjay’ describing her as being grey haired, grey eyed, and pale skinned. But even the franchise’s moviegoers who haven’t read the books know how makeup and hair dye transform most of the residents of the Capitol into technicolor monstrosities. Moore’s transformation into Coin should be flawless and masterfully acted.

Alma Coin serves as one of the final integral characters to be cast, as most of the others yet unseen from the series are set to debut in the second film in November.
