Some of the most beloved characters from Asgard are Fandral the Dashing, Hogun the Grim, and Volstagg the Voluminous. Later this year, the groups known as the Warriors Three will return in Alan Taylor’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’. However, one of the warriors has emerged to talk more about the next tale featuring the mighty Thor and the Asgardians that he leads.

At the premiere of ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’, Ray Stevenson, the actor behind Cobra mercenary Firefly and the massive Volstagg in ‘Thor’, spoke with Red Carpet News (via Comic Book Movie) about the upcoming Phase Two film, what one can expect from it, and the phenomenal performance by Marvel newcomer Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed. Additionally, the former Frank Castle spoke about returning to the mantle of the Punisher, as well as popping up in Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers 2’. For all his comments, check out the video below:

Volstagg is quite the lovable character and sometimes I forget that it’s actually Ray Stevenson under there. I’m looking forward to seeing him and the rest of the Warriors Three, now joined by Zachary Levi instead of Josh Dallas, in the new film, but now I’m thinking about what part they could play in the follow up to ‘The Avengers’. Even if it were a really small cameo, it would be cool to see them incorporated somehow.

For more information on ‘Thor: The Dark World’, here’s the official synopsis:

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
