With ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ getting it’s home video release recently, director Rich Moore has been doing his round to promote once again. Naturally, talks of a sequel to the Academy Award nominated film came up. Previously, he spoke about the possibility of mobile games such as ‘Angry Birds’ being included in the next movie. Now, it appears that the director and his star have been throwing out more ideas for the next round.

In an interview with Hypable, Moore revealed that he and star John C. Reilly have been playing with an idea similar to ‘Toy Story 2’ where Buzz Lightyear meets other Buzz Lightyear toys. In the following quote, the director brings up the possibility of more Ralphs in the world:

“That is so funny that you ask that because I was just talking to John C. Reilly and we were talking about exactly that. Are there other Ralphs? What would happen if another ‘Fix-It Felix, Jr.’ game were plugged in? Are there other Ralphs that are more contemporary? Is there another version of the game that was made for mobile? Are there those kind of ‘Super Smash Brothers’ types games where all the characters are gathered in a fighting game? What would that be like for Ralph to come face to face with those different iterations of himself? And it’s created some really cool conversations, so I think that that is so funny you bring up because it’s something we’re playing around with right now.”

That would a really interesting story to follow. Maybe those other Ralphs are content with their lives and are perfectly okay with their day to day routine and when they come in contact with our Ralph, they decide to team up to make things right in the original Ralph’s version of ‘Fix-It Felix Jr.’. There are a whole lot of possibilities with this potential storyline and I’m curious to see what could come of it. Also, if they include a ‘Super Smash Brothers’-esque game, then they’d be fulfilling my wish to see more fighting games represented in the film.

Though a ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ sequel hasn’t been officially greenlit yet, it’s becoming such a popular property that no one would be surprised if a sequel came along sooner or later. And if that sequel does come to fruition, then it would be the first theatrically released sequel from Disney Animation Studios since ‘The Rescuers Down Under’ back in 1990.

What do you think about this new potential storyline for a sequel to ‘Wreck-It Ralph’? If Ralph was in a fighting game, what characters for you think would be interesting opponents for him?
