Hot on the tail of the news that Omar Sy of ‘The Intouchables’ has joined the cast of Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, we’ve received word that another star has joined the time-traveling tale, indicating that winds of change are on the horizon.

After a long “Will they? Won’t they?” ordeal, Halle Berry has been confirmed to be reprising her role as the weather witch Storm in Singer’s latest installment of the X-Men franchise. As has become custom with these things, the director announced on Twitter the new addition to the cast.

Not only did we hear it straight from the man in charge, but the actress herself revealed the casting news in an interview with Coming Soon. She was very straightforward in confirming this announcement that has been speculated on for most of the month of February:

CS: What can you say about your role in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’?

Halle Berry: That I’m gonna be there. For sure.

CS: Is there anything you didn’t get a chance to do in the first three X-Men films that you’d like to do in this one?

Berry: You know, I always love to do more as Storm. That’s a character that I really love and people seem to respond well to me playing Storm.

Now that she’s 100% in, one has to wonder how large of a role she’ll have as the cast seems to be never-ending at this point. If Omar Sy turns out to be who he’s rumored to be, it’s possible that Singer could be pairing up Storm and Bishop, who could be playing important roles on the future team of X-Men. Storm is a great character, but so far she hasn’t really had a chance to shine onscreen like she should. Hopefully things change up this time around for Ororo Munroe, definitely in terms of involvement, but maybe in appearance as well. Mohawk Storm still hasn’t made her way to the big screen, so maybe now is the time.

What do you think about Bryan Singer adding Halle Berry to the cast of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’? Are you glad to see another familiar face joining the fray? Or do you feel like there’s an awful lot of star power in this film already and that screen time may not be allotted equally? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and many more is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2014.
