I’m not going to lie, when I heard they were remaking ‘Carrie‘ I’m sure I felt exactly how everyone else did – horrible. The thought of another horror movie remake is cringe worthy for most fans of the genre at this point. Hollywood just can’t seem to come up with much new that works and is instead dumping money into one horrible remake after another.

Some of the remakes have worked though. Some of them have come out absolutely fantastic such as the ‘Let Me In‘ remake of “Let The Right One In‘ and I’m using that example in particular for one reason. The lead in ‘Let Me In‘ was Chloë Grace Moretz who is now going to be taking over the roll of Carrie in remake.

I’ve been a huge fan of Chloë’s work to date in the genre and that alone perked my interest. Follow that up with stills like the one below from Empire Magazine which have all been looking fantastic, great source material by Stephen King and Kimberly Peirce (‘Stop-Loss’) directing, it gives me a lot of hope for the film. Before I forget Julianne Moore is going to play Carrie’s overprotective mother. Julianne Moore is going to be in a horror/suspense film!

Regardless of all negative opinions most of us share on remakes this is a Fall 2013 movie to look out for!

Synopsis:

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society.
