The premiere of ‘Game of Thrones’ season three is getting closer and the various marketing tactics being used to publicize it aren’t letting up any time soon. Earlier this week, we got a massive collection of character photos, and now we have a new production blog that focuses on the land Beyond the Wall where Jon Snow is currently braving the elements in order to meet Mance Ryder, the king of the wildlings that live outside of the Westeros borders.
Thanks to Collider, we get to see how the crew works in the extreme, yet beautiful, conditions in Iceland. Executive producers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff talks about the actually shooting in the icy environment where the actors really are huddling for warmth and not just acting, while stars Kit Harington, Ciaran Hinds, and Rose Leslie share their thoughts on shooting on location while briefly touching on what their characters get into in the desolate and bitter land they’re journeying through. Check out the blog titled “Intensity of Iceland” below:
Back at New York Comic Con, Harington briefly mentioned Iceland in passing during our interview, but if I had seen this video prior to meeting him, I would have asked more about the harsh working conditions. It’s really fascinating how far ‘Game of Thrones’ goes to make their universe more tangible and based in reality.
What sort of things do you think are waiting for Jon Snow Beyond the Wall besides it’s king? Are you excited to see more of Jon and Ygritte when season three returns? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
‘Game of Thrones’ returns to HBO on Sunday, March 31, 2013.
