Who knew Winnie Cooper would grow up to be a flame throwing, gun toting super woman? In the latest Syfy original movie, ‘Tasmanian Devils,’ Danica McKellar shows that her years of wonder have now become a time of terror.

Those who grew up in the early 90’s may remember McKellar as the young, sweet faced, girl-next-door from the series ‘The Wonder Years.’ While she may not have been high in the public eye in the last few years, she has been working in the industry providing her voice to the animated series ‘Young Justice’ (as Miss Martian) and ‘Generator Rex,’ to name a few, and has written books about mathematics. Those who follow her on Twitter know she loves to put out palindrome riddles for her followers.

But soon, McKellar can be seen as the non-nonsense well-knowledge park ranger who finds herself having to fight off monstrous Tasmanian devils who have decided humans have a better taste than the small prey they usually eat. And we have a red band trailer for you to see!

‘Tasmanian Devils’ looks surprising well-done considering it’s an original Syfy movie. That may be because the director, Zach Lipovsky, specializes in visual effects. In fact, he was a contestant on Steven Spielberg’s reality game show ‘On the Lot’ where 16 aspiring directors competed to win a development deal with Dreamworks studios.

The trailer looks like a lot of campy fun with Apolo Ono (yes, the ice skating Gold Medal Olympian, Apolo Ono) looking like he should have kept to the ice instead of the woods, and McKellar channeling Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley as she handles the flame thrower. There’s lots of blood and gore to be had, hence the red band rating, but it’s not as obnoxious as some others since, after all, this is a made for TV movie.

Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know if you’ll be watching ‘Tasmanian Devils!’
