It’s a good day for Spider-Man fans! ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ is developing quite quickly with the announcement that Jamie Foxx is in talks with Sony to play the villain Electro!

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the villain first appeared in 1964 in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man #9’ and acquired the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning. He was hinted as a possible villain for the sequel midway in the credits of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ in the scene where Dr. Connors, who is now in an asylum cell, is visited by a shadowy figure asking him if Peter Parker knows the truth about his father. With lightening flashing in the background, the mysterious figure tells Connors that it’s good that he doesn’t know and that Peter can be left alone… for now.

Foxx, whose upcoming film ‘Django Unchained’ will be released next month, Twitter teased the fans yesterday by posting:

If negotiations go well, Foxx will be joining director Marc Webb and leads Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone for the feature. At the moment, there has been no update regarding the negotiations with Shailene Woodley to take on the Mary Jane role.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ grossed $751 million worldwide and the sequel is currently undergoing a rewrite by Hollywood’s go to tentpole scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The sequel is slated to be in theaters on May 2, 2014.

What do you think? Would you like to see Foxx as Electro?
