When it was announced that a remake of the Sam Raimi cult classic horror film ‘Evil Dead’ was in the works, screams of outrage from fans of the franchise were heard. Worse yet, the news that the remake wouldn’t include Bruce Campbell and that his character, Ash, is now a female in this version, was enough to make fans take a chainsaw to themselves. But through it all, Raimi and Campbell (who are both producers of the ‘Evil Dead’ remake) have asked fans to trust them and now the proof is in the pudding as the first official trailer for the film has now hit online.

After watching the red band trailer, it is very obvious director Fede Alvarez has gone back to the horror roots of the first film. Very bloody and very gory, the trailer delivers what one would expect from a horror film right down to the final tongue splitting end.

If this isn’t enough to convince the still doubtful, Machinima caught up with Campbell who explained why fans should give this remake a chance. The entire interview can be seen following the trailer.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer and if you’re a fan of the original, let me know if you think the remake will live up to its predecessor!

Synopsis:
