Without a doubt, Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ was one of the biggest superhero epics of the year (if not all time). The film smashed box office records and topped off one of the most visionary retellings of the Batman mythos that we’ve seen in age. Now fans of the film will be able to own the conclusion to the ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy when the film releases this coming December 4th.

The disc’s release might still be a couple of months away but Warner Bros is already teasing us with a trailer that gives us some very brief, but interesting, glimpses at the bonus features. The DVD/Blu-ray/digital copy combo pack will include 3 hours of bonus content. While the full list of features has yet to be released, the content includes the prerequisite behind-the-scenes videos and a way to link the Blu-ray to the ‘Dark Knight Rises’ iPad app for even more exclusive content. But best of all, it include a documentary on the history of the Batmobile on film where they show off some of the iconic vehicles past incarnations (with my personal favorite being the one from the ‘60s Adam West incarnation). Check out the video below.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ DVD/Blu-ray Trailer:

In addition to the regular release, there’s also an exclusive limited release of the discs that includes a replica of Batman’s broken cowl. The suggested retail on the cool cowl version is $39.99… only $5 more than the cowl-free release!

Here’s the official blurb on the release straight from Warner Bros…

The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.
