Reverse the polarity! Start stocking up on jelly babies and jammie dodgers! Get your TARDIS blue diaries out and get ready as BBC America has FINALLY given an official date for the return of ‘Doctor Who’! In true form, not only has the network announced that September 1st will be the season premiere of the series but they did so by debuting a new promo TV spot to go along with the announcement!
For the past few days, rumors of the premiere occurring a week later infused the internet when a video was uploaded showing a commercial that aired indicating a September 8th debut. The commercial was supposedly shown only once prompting sites to think that someone over at BBC America might have aired the promo earlier than scheduled. We decided not to run this story and wanted to wait until BBC America could respond.
And respond they did! The new TV spot has lots of new footage to excite Whovians young and old and focuses more on the character moments while also teasing the end of Amy and Rory.
Speaking of the Ponds, while we wait for the premiere of ‘Doctor Who‘, the BBC will air a special web series called ‘Pond Life’ which will bring viewers up to date with the two companions since the episode ‘The Wedding of River Song‘. Chris Chibnall who wrote the mini-web-series, describes it this way:
“It opens with the Ponds at home and gives us an insight in to just what happens when the Doctor drops in and out of their lives. Travelling with the Doctor is one of the greatest things you can do, but it’s fun to spend a few moments looking at the chaos he can also bring.”
‘Pond Life’ will have a 5 episode run on the official ‘Doctor Who’ website and the BBC1 YouTube channel starting Monday, August 27th. Each day through August 31st, a new episode will be uploaded at 12 noon.
So get ready for a week long of Whovain fun culminating to what is expected to be a fantastic season premiere with ‘Asylum with the Daleks’ airing Saturday, September 1st, at 9PM ET/PT on BBC America and BBC1. We can hardly wait! How about you?
