DC Comics and Warner Brothers have been trying to get a Lobo movie off the ground for a while. When we last heard about it, ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth 2’ director Brad Peyton had been brought on to do script rewrites and to direct. Then news on the project dried up.

Then this past week, rumors started flying around the net that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who worked with Peyton on ‘Journey 2’ was in talks to star in the new ‘Lobo’ film. Of course these were just rumors until Sunday when a curious fan flat out asked Johnson via Twitter if he was going to play the bad-ass Czarnian bounty hunter. This is The Rock’s response:

So it sounds like Johnson’s interested and in talks to play Lobo. If nothing else, he definitely has the look and build for it. Toss on some white paint, a heavy metal black wig, and a hooked chain around his arm and viola!… You’ve got yourself a Lobo!

Of course, if Johnson takes on the Lobo role, it’ll probably nix any hopes that I have of him playing Black Adam in that long-rumored Shazam! movie. But since Lobo is such an awesome character, I guess beggars can’t be choosers.

What do you think of Johnson in the role of Lobo? Would you have cast someone else? Even more importantly, what do you think of the rumor that, when and if the Lobo movie gets made, WB wants it to be PG-13?
