Update 5/30/2012: Sources now state that the casting of the gym teacher in ‘Carrie’ has not been finalized. We will report on further casting news as it arises.

Director Kimberly Peirce is getting ready to start shooting her version of the classic Stephen King novel ‘Carrie’ starring ‘Kick-Ass’ star Chloe Grace Moretz next week, but she’s making some last minute additions to the cast this week. According to /Film, Judy Greer, Ivanna Baquero, and Gabriella Wilde are signing on for some key supporting roles.

Veteran actress Greer, who I remember best from her roll in ‘Arrested Development’ as Kitty Sanchez, is supposed to play the sympathetic gym teacher named Miss Desjardin in King’s book and Miss Collins in Brian De Palma’s classic 1976 film who encourages Carrie to defend herself against bullies.

Baquero, a young Spanish actress best known from her starring role in Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’, will take the roll of Chris Hargensen, the mean girl whose prank sends Carrie over the edge and into a telekinetic rage.

British actress Wilde will step into the shoes of Sue Snell, someone who initially picks on Carrie, but later tries to make up for her wrong doings by arranging for Carrie to go to prom.

The three will join Moretz, Julianne Moore, Alex Russell and Ansel Elgort, who are working from a script by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa that is supposedly very faithful to the original novel. While it probably won’t sit well with the fans of the original film, this remake isn’t exactly in wrong the hands. We’ll all see how it turns out once it’s released on March 15th, 2013.
