George Miller’s new Mad Max movie ‘Fury Road’ has had its fair share of holdups. Because of unprecedented rains in the Australia last time they tried to shoot a few years ago, the production lost the desert wasteland it planned on using since it had been replaced by a lush, green garden. But now the ball is rolling again with the project and there is a new addition to the cast.

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, who both have blockbuster movies coming out this summer, have been long attached to the new installment of the franchise, but today a new, very sexy piece of the puzzle has been brought into play: Aussie supermodel and triple threat Abbey Lee Kershaw. She’ll be replacing a role that was supposed to go to fellow Australian Teresa Palmer, who backed out because of constant delays.

A “well-placed film source” described Kershaw’s part to The Daily Telegraph with this quote:

“Obviously it’s set in a post-apocalyptic world, and women, especially beautiful women, are scarce, so men have been locking them up in cages. Abbey is one of them. She’s perfect.”

The jury is still out on the outback beauty’s acting ability since this is her first acting gig, but if all she’s supposed to be playing is a beautiful woman in a cage, then she should be just fine.

The Telegraph reports that filming is set to start in Namibia later this month. Hopefully all goes well this time around for director Miller and the whole crew. Maybe they can even convince Mel Gibson to cameo.
