Look out William Tell! Here comes Katniss Everdeen! In the first clip of what I hope to be many more to come, Lionsgate reveals how Katniss catches the attention of the Gamemakers.

If you’ve read the book, this is the part where the Gamemakers have her display her archery skills in order to evaluate her. Having been through this process numerous times, the Gamemakers are clearly uninterested in Katniss’ ability and instead pay more attention to the lavish feast set before them. Clearly not happy being ignored, Katniss decides to get their attention the best way she knows how.

A glimpse of this clip was actually seen in the latest ‘The Hunger Games’ trailer that was released yesterday but now you can see what the full cut looks like in the movie. So far the buzz on the film has been very positive. So much so that the movie is expected to gross up to $70 million in the first weekend alone!

For those not familiar with the story or the book, here’s the official synopsis:

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
