By no means am I a fan of reality television. For the most part, I can’t even stand the commercials for them, but when I heard that nerd god Kevin Smith was teaming with AMC to try his hand at the genre, how could I not check it out? I mean, I even watched ‘Jersey Girl’. I can’t abandon him now!

‘Comic Book Men’ is an hour-long unscripted series that takes place in Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash – Kevin Smith’s comic book store in Red Bank, New Jersey. The show follows the employees of the Secret Stash as they buy and sell treasures of the comic book culture.

Any fan of Smith’s work will recognize two members of the team right away, especially if they’re fans of the classic ‘Mallrats’. I speak of none other than Fanboy and Steve-Dave themselves, Walt Flanagan, who is the store manager, and Bryan Johnson, who doesn’t technically work at the shop. Joining these View Askew veterans is uber-nerd Mike Zapcic and low man on the totem pole Ming Chen. Silent Bob himself even interjects occasionally to give his two cents about what’s going on.

If you’re interested in checking out some unearthed nerd artifacts, the stories behind them, plus the people who are all about them, then this show is definitely for you. And if you find that it is for you, keep an eye out as I provide coverage for this six-part season right here on Sciencefiction.com!

Here are a couple videos to help you get a glimpse of what you’ll see in the show.

‘Comic Book Men’ premieres on today on AMC at 10pm Eastern.
