Casting continues on the NBC pilot ‘Beautiful People.’ Two weeks ago they had just signed on Frances Conroy (‘American Horror Story’) to play the matriarch of the family, now it’s been announced that Andrea Parker ( ‘The Pretender’, ‘Desperate Housewives’), Jud Tylor (Charlie Wilson’s War’), Megalyn Echikunwoke (‘90210’), Madisen Beaty (‘Miss Behave’), and Cody Christian (‘Pretty Little Liars’) have been added to the cast.

The pilot, written by Michael McDonald (‘Cougar Town’, ‘MADtv’) is centered on a society where humans and mechanical androids co-exist. The androids (also known as Mechanicals) look like humans but were created to serve them. They are treated as second class citizens but soon some of the Mechanicals become aware of their lesser status and problems arise.

As mentioned previously, Conroy will play Lydia, the matriarch of a wealthy family whose late husband founded the company that makes Mechanicals. Roberta (Parker) is another wealthy matriarch whose rebellious teen daughter (played by Beaty) begins a romance with a Mechanical teenage boy (Christian) who happens to be the son of Lydia’s Mechanical servant David (Patrick Heusinger) and his wife Susan (Tylor). As you can already guess, Roberta is none too happy with this situation. Echikunwoke will play the boss of Gregory (James Murray), Lydia’s son.

The series is beginning to sound like ‘Dallas’ with a sci-fi twist. I have to admit, I am very intrigued and am looking forward to seeing this pilot!
