Syfy has given the green light to a new 2 hour scripted action thriller pilot called ‘Rewind.’ This will be the first original pilot pickup ordered by the network since 2010.

‘Rewind’ will be about a team of military field operatives and civilian scientists who must use untested technology to travel back in time to alter past events in order to change the future and avoid a devastating terrorist attack. The script was written by Justin Marks (‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li’) who will also executive produce along with Tom Spezialy (‘Chaos’, ‘Reaper’, ‘Desperate Housewives’), Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein (the latter three are producing partners for  ‘Alphas’ and ‘The Cape’).

Mark Stern, president of original content for the Syfy network, says of the pilot:

“Justin Marks has created a time-travel series with an exciting innovative approach that really exemplifies Syfy’s commitment to bring compelling storytelling to life.”

Maybe it’s just me but the premise of the pilot sounds an awful like the movie ‘Source Code.’ Even if it sounds like a series that you may watch, a pilot order is just that. Only the first episode of the possible series will be made. According to Deadline, the last original pilot orders Syfy had green lit were for ‘Alphas’ and ‘Three Inches’ in 2010. As we already know, ‘Alphas’ was picked up as a series (and has been renewed for a second season) and ‘Three Inches’ was shown as a 2 hour movie. Keeping this in mind, there may be a chance ‘Rewind’ could end up the way of ‘Three Inches.’

Filming will begin in April with a possible air date sometime later in the year.
