It looks like the sequel to ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ is moving forward as Katee Sackhoff is in final negotiations with the producers to play the female lead opposite Vin Diesel.

Many may recognize Sackhoff as she starred in the 2009 ‘Battlestar Galactica’ series as Captain Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace and as Dana Walsh in the series ‘24’. She also appeared in the 2007 reboot of ‘The Bionic Woman.’  If all goes well with the negotiations, Sackhoff will be playing Dahl, a Nordic mercenary assigned to track down Riddick, played by Diesel.

The untitled sequel will be helmed by David Twohy who also wrote the screenplay (he held the same positions in the last two ‘Riddick’ movies, so he’s very familiar with the franchise and story). The news of Sackhoff’s casting shows that the film is back on track after having to shut down for 2 months last year due to financial trouble. Hopefully, the film will begin production sometime this year as Diesel hopes.

If you’ve been wondering what the story line will be, here’s the official synopsis:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

With an R rating from Universal, this well may be the ‘Riddick’ movie that fans were hoping for. What do you all think?
