Back in December, Benedict Cumberbatch was officially announced as the titular character of Scott Derrickson’s upcoming Marvel Studios film ‘Doctor Strange’. Shortly after that, the ‘Sherlock’ star made his first comments about landing the role of the Sorcerer Supreme in his own Phase Three movie. Of course, he didn’t have much to say then since he was at the beginning of the whole process, but now that the actor has been involved for a few months, does he have more to say? Not exactly.

Over the weekend at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony (where he was nominated in the Best Actor category for his role as Alan Turing in ‘The Imitation Game’, but lost to Eddie Redmayne for ‘The Theory of Everything‘), MTV caught up with Cumberbatch on the red carpet to get a few words from him. In the brief (and I do mean brief) interview, we learned that the popular star has been incredibly busy as of late. Then before rushing off, a ‘Doctor Strange’ question comes up. Reporter Josh Horowitz asks whether Stephen Strange will have a British or an American accent. Check out the video below to see the answer that he gets:

Just when you think that the award-winning actor couldn’t say less about his role as Stephen Strange, he goes ahead and says less than ever before. But it is an interesting question nonetheless. In the comics, Strange is American, but it certainly wouldn’t feel out of the ordinary for the character to be British. After all, the Master of the Mystic Arts and the possessor of the Eye of Agamotto looks as if he would have an English accent sometimes, so really it could work either way. Regardless, it appears that we’ll have to wait some time to find out the answer.
