You don’t have to live in L.A to get some great visuals on upcoming movies. When a film production is on location at a major city, don’t be surprised when photos and videos start cropping up all over the net. Such is the case for the new Ryan Reynolds movie ‘R.I.P.D.’
Based on the Dark Horse graphic novel by Peter Lenkov, ‘R.I.P.D.’ is about policeman Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) who was at the height of his life both personally and professionally when all of a sudden he is murdered by an unknown assailant. Unable to move on, he joins the R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department) – a group of spirits who battle other ghostly beings who are unwilling and unready to depart this world – in an effort to find out who killed him. Reynolds is joined by Jeff Bridges who plays Bo, his ghostly partner. Also in the film are James Hong who plays Reynolds’ avatar and Marissa Miller who plays Bridges’ avatar. The avatars represent what the characters look like when they are on earth.
R.I.P.D. has been filming in Boston for the last month. The latest photo below is from a scene with Kevin Bacon (in motion capture outfit) performing some unworldly act with the help of a crane on Nick Walker’s wife (played by Stephanie Szostack in the movie.) Whether this is Stephanie Szostack or a stunt double in this shot was not indicated.
What we know of the movie is that it will probably have a lot of CGI done (after all it is a movie about ghosts) and from the videos below, a few action scenes. These videos were taken last month but uploaded recently to YouTube.

R.I.P.D. is being directed by Robert Schwentke (‘Red’, ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’) on a screenplay written by Phil Hay (‘Clash of the Titans’, ‘Aeon Flux’, ‘The Tuxedo’) and Matt Manfredi (‘Clash of the Titans’, ‘Aeon Flux’, ‘The Tuxedo’). Expect the film to materialize in theaters on June 28, 2013. In the meantime, here are a few more photos from the location shooting taken in the last month.
