The third and final film in the ‘Descendants’ franchise airs this summer on the Disney Channel, so perhaps its time for the next hit franchise. Last year’s ‘Zombies’ attracted 2.57 million viewers during its premiere, and 10.3 million over the course of the weekend, with repeat airings, making it the most-watched program of 2018 for kids 6-11, and tweens age 9-14. Now it’s getting a sequel, complete with new cast members, Pearce Joza, Chandler Kinney, and Ariel Martin aka social media influencer Baby Ariel.
‘Zombies 2’ begins after last year’s groundbreaking semester at Seabrook High, as a new group of outsiders—mysterious werewolves—threaten the newfound unity and cause a rift between Zed and Addison.
Paul Hoen, who directed the first movie, is returning for the sequel. The screenplay was written by David Light and Joseph Raso, who wrote the first.
Milo Manheim returns as zombie football player Zed, while Meg Donnelly plays his human cheerleader girlfriend Addison. Kingston Foster will be back as Zed’s sister Zoey, along with James Godfrey as Bonzo, their friend who can only speak “zombie” and has to have his words translated by Zed or Zoey. Kylee Russell will also be back as fellow zombie Eliza. On the human side of the cast, Trevor Tordjman returns as Addison’s conceited cousin Bucky, the captain of the Cheer Squad, along with Carla Jeffery, who plays Addison’s friend Bree, a fellow cheerleader.
As if the culture clash between humans and zombies weren’t enough, ‘Zombies 2’ is throwing werewolves into the mix. Joza and Kinney will portray siblings Wyatt and Willa, while Martin plays their packmate Wynter.
Joza stars on the Disney series ‘Mech-X4’, and before that starred on Nickelodeon’s ‘Legendary Dudas’ and appeared on Disney’s ‘Lab Rats’.
Kinney starred on ‘Lethal Weapon’, ‘Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street’, and Nickelodeon’s ‘The Haunted Hathaways’. She has also made appearances on Disney’s ‘Girl Meets World’ and ‘KC Undercover’.
Martin’s Baby Ariel videos can be found on TikTok. She has also appeared on Nickelodeon’s ‘Henry Danger’ and in their recent movie ‘Bixler High Private Eye’.
Production on ‘Zombies 2’ begins on May 27.
