Selma Blair (‘American Crime Story’,’Cruel Intentions’) has been tapped by Netflix to join their upcoming science fiction drama ‘After Life’! The actress is no stranger to Netflix having starred in an episode of ‘Lost in Space‘ for the streaming network and obviously shines in genre work from her time on the original ‘Hellboy’ movies. This stint on the Netflix series will run a bit longer as she has been cast in a recurring role in this 10-episode run.
On the show, Blair has been cast as “21st-century media influencer Harper Glass, who uses journalism, social media, and keen intelligence in an attempt to break one of the biggest stories in human history.”
She’ll be joining Katee Sackhoff’s character, Niko Breckinridge, who is on a mission to find alien life. Niko and her crew are investigating what looks to be an alien artifact and will face “face unimaginable danger” on what is being billed as a potential “one-way mission.”
It isn’t clear if we’ll be seeing Harper Glass sneak on board the ship to investigate it, is attached to report on it, or be following the story from the safety of Earth. My guess is that we’ll see Blair’s character end up on board the ship but as a guest or a stowaway is anyone’s guess.
Behind the camera, the series is being brought to us by creator and showrunner Aaron Martin (‘Killjoys,”Saving Hope’) and executive producer Noreen Halpern (‘Alias Grace,”Haven’). With Netflix having so much success in the science fiction sphere it is great to see that they are continuing to give us original content set in outer space as there aren’t a lot of networks who are doing that at the moment.
