Mackenzie Davis is in negotiations to join the cast of the new ‘Terminator’ movie.  The plot of the movie is being kept under wraps, but it is believed that Davis will portray a “soldier-assassin on a mission” and it is known that her character is human, so she will likely be a freedom fighter taking on the deadly Terminators.  It is also not believed that this is the main character of the story, as producers have been searching for a Latina to play the lead role, who would star in three planned movies.  It is unknown how many installments that Davis is signing on for.

Davis will next be seen in the upcoming comedy ‘Tully’ which opens on April 20 and stars Charlize Theron.  She was seen in last year’s ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and previously in ‘The Martian’.  She is currently filming the horror movie ‘The Turning’ with ‘Stranger Things” Finn Wolfhard.  On the small screen, she appeared in the ‘San Junipero’ episode of ‘Black Mirror’ and starred for four seasons as Cameron on AMC’s ‘Halt and Catch Fire’.

The new ‘Terminator’ film is being directed by Tim Miller with a script by Josh Friedman, Davis S. Goyer, Justin Rhodes, based on a story by James Cameron and Davis Ellison.  Because the more writers, the more promising a movie is, Billy Ray is currently working on a final draft.  Cameron is also serving as executive producer.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton are returning for the new installment.  This is the first time since ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ that either Hamilton or Cameron has been involved with the franchise.

Skydance is producing the movie.  This is the same company behind ‘Terminator Genisys’ so… I mean… that plus six writers… brace yourselves, fans.  (Skydance also produced the recent sci-fi underperformer ‘Annihilation’.)

The untitled ‘Terminator’ movie is scheduled for release on July 26, 2019.
