We shouldn’t expect a director’s cut of ‘Logan‘ when it hits a home release. director James Mangold has stated that the theatrical cut of the film is his director’s cut. Some studios seem to like to release director’s cuts of their films due to horrible editing where pieces don’t make sense, but Fox was able to let Mangold make and release the movie exactly how he wanted to this time around. I mention this time around as ‘The Wolverine’ would have had an R-rating if Fox hadn’t forced him to cut the movie to make it PG-13. While the director’s cut only made ‘The Wolverine’ slightly better we knew this one was set for an R-Rating with high expectations from the get go, so I do not think that should work against it.
Here is the tweet where he confirmed that there would be no need for a director’s cut:
@PotterDarth Yes. There is. It is the one in theaters.

From the high preview scores on Rotton Tomatoes to almost unanimous positive previews from the press, it sounds like we’re finally getting the Wolverine that everyone has wanted over the years.
We’ve all seen how some studios have had to release “Ultimate Editions” to not have cutscenes take away from the movie making sense which feels like something that should be caught before the film’s release.
