DC continues to roll out the advertisements for their upcoming blockbuster ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ and unfortunately at this point, the results are… mixed.
First up we have a new 30 second TV Spot that goes into the motivations for Bruce Wayne/Batman to go to war with Superman. In a captivating monologue by Ben Affleck, he tells Alfred about Superman’s potential to destroy the human race and, if there is any chance of the man turning out to be their enemy, how Batman needs to destroy Superman. The small promo does a lot of work setting up why Batman would ever want to battle Superman, and making the audience even want to root for the superhero with no powers who is desperately trying to safeguard the human race from someone whose abilities inadvertently cost thousands of lives in ‘Man of Steel,’ and knowing that should Superman turn evil, he could take out millions of lives.

Next up is the “new” trailer for ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ and it is a disappointment. It is basically just a rehash of previously seen trailers, only difference being one or two new shots, the most prevalent being of Diana aka Wonder Woman boarding a Turkish airline flight. While it is an interesting idea to have a basically Greek hero journey across the world on a Turkish airline, I am not sure why this was important enough to stick in the trailer and then call the whole thing a brand new trailer. As far as world building, the only other thing this tells us is that Wonder Woman clearly does not have her invisible jet from the comics yet, or may not get it at all during the course of the DC movies. Check it out for yourself and then feel free to weigh in on both spots in the comments section below!
‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Jesse Eisenberg will be in theaters on March 25, 2016.
