Who would have thought that there was a demand for more human vs angel violence on television? Well, apparently Syfy seems to think that’s exactly what we want to see because they’re developing a series version of the 2010 supernatural thriller ‘Legion’, which starred Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, and NBC’s failed Wonder Woman herself, Adrianne Palicki.
Deadline is reporting that the feature’s director/co-writer Scott Stewart is attached to direct and executive produce the series. On the writing side of things, the script will be conceived by ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ writer Vaun Wilmott. Producing duties go to Sony Pictures TV, the TV equivalent to Sony’s Screen Gems, which produced the film.
The movie, which received largely negative reviews from critics, was about the war between the human race and God’s legions of angels that are meant to bring about the apocalypse. The humans gain an unlikely ally when the Archangel Michael, played in the movie by Bettany, defies God and joins their side.
Hopefully, Stewart and Wilmott can work out the kinks that the movie possessed in order to make this series more appealing to audiences. They could start by improving the CGI and the plausibility of the whole plot, for starters. Regardless, I’ll give the show the benefit of the doubt since they haven’t even started anything yet.
What do you think? Do you have any faith they can make this show work?
