G.I. Joe 2 which was originally slated to be released on August 10, 2012 has been bumped up a couple moths. In an exclusive, Deadline.com has announced that it has become obvious that ‘Star Trek 2’ will not be able to be completed by the original release date of June 29, 2012 so Paramount has decided to give the slot over to ‘G.I. Joe 2’.
It was also reported that the title of G.I. Joe sequel will be called ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’, but according to ComingSoon.com, they have confirmed that no title has been officially chosen. Other news sources have the title as ‘The Rise Of Cobra’ or ‘Cobra Strikes’.
What we do know is that the movie will be directed by John Chu (‘Step Up’ films, ‘LXD’) and the screenplay was written by Paul Wernick and Rhet Reese of ‘Zombieland’ fame. Returning will be Channing Tatum to reprise his role as Captain Duke Hauser, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, and Byung-Hun Lee as Storm Shadow. New characters will be played by Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) as Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki (‘Wonder Woman’) as Lady Jaye, RZA as Blind Master, and recently added Joe Mazello (‘Social Network’) as Mouse.
Stay tuned, we will keep you posted on any developments, news and trailers as they become available.
