Captain Marvel

With ‘Captain Marvel‘ having Carol Danvers part of Starforce it makes sense that she won’t be spending all of her time on Earth. You have to wonder if we’ll be seeing more time on her home planet finding out who she was or battling the Skrulls in the skies above. Executive producer Jonathan Schwartz has weighed in that Brie Larson‘s character will be spending equal time in both areas.

According to Schwartz:

“In terms of Earth versus Space, it’s more or less 50-50. The movie starts in space gets to Earth relatively quickly, and it goes back to space for kind of some of the third act. So it’s kind of space Earth space. There is a big Earth plot that ends up tying into a lot of our more cosmic goings on.”

While Danvers won’t spend the entire movie on Earth, we have seen from the previews that she’ll at least be fighting a few Skrulls who are also on the planet.

It is hard to tell what kind of Easter Eggs that Schwartz might be referring to but as we know, Marvel Studios was at one point making a big push to expand the cosmic side of things so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few other mentions of other races and characters here.

The film, however, won’t just be all about the Kree-Skrull war:

“I mean, a lot of the movie is about Carol not remembering her human past. When we meet her at the beginning of the movie, she believes that she is a Kree, and kind of has been inducted into their army. She’s proud as a person, she loves being a Kree. And then over the course of her adventure, realized there’s more to her story than that. So the movie kind of becomes her unraveling the root of her own origin, the root of her own mystery.”

The Kree are long known for having little regard for any species who isn’t directly part of their empire. The thought of using humans, or Inhumans, as cannon fodder isn’t that far-fetched but seeing how Danvers deals with this knowledge should prove to be a fun reveal.

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Captain Marvel’ will be flying Higher, Further, Faster onto the big screen on March 8th, 2019!
