Game Of Thrones Prequel Josh Whitehouse

Is this the new Jon Snow?  The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel has found its male lead, Josh Whitehouse.  He joins Naomi Watts who was just announced as the female lead.  Of course, like ‘Game of Thrones’, this will be an ensemble series with many characters.  This new series is headed up by Jane Goldman, who wrote the pilot based on a story she crafted with George R.R. Martin.

Whitehouse first gained notice from appearing on the British MTV reality series ‘Living on the Edge’, which followed young people living in the wealthy Cheshire area.  Most recently, he starred on the period drama ‘Poldark’ as Hugh Armitage and was the face of Burberry’s recent ad campaign for their new ‘Mr. Burberry’ fragrance.

He will become more familiar to American audiences in the coming months, as he has just wrapped the “existential fairy tale” ‘The Happy Worker’, directed by Duwayne Dunham and executive produced by David Lynch. He also stars as Randy in Rachel Lee Goldenberg’s ’80s remake ‘Valley Girl’, which also stars Peyton List, Jessica Rothe, Mae Whitman, Chloe Bennet and Ashleigh Murray.  Whitehouse plays the male lead, a character portrayed by Nicolas Cage in the 1983 original.

The exact plot of the new ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off is being kept under wraps, but it is known to be set thousands of years before that storyline.  However, this teasing logline is currently being used to describe it:

It chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.

Watts’ character was described as a wealthy socialite hiding a secret, but no information was given about Whitehouse’s role.

Check back for more information as it becomes available.
