The Walking Dead

The latest episode from ‘The Walking Dead, ‘The Obliged,’ ended with a massive cliffhanger seeing Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) seriously injured at the end of his second to the last episode on the show.

In the episode, Rick and Daryl (Norman Reedus) come to blows over Rick’s decision to put former Savior leader Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in jail rather than kill him, and Daryl giving assistance to Maggie (Lauren Cohan) by distracting Rick as she journeys to Alexandria to kill the man who took everything from her.

As Rick and Daryl fought, the two tumbled into a nearby pit, and soon after found themselves sharing the space with a hoard of walkers. Gunfire from the camp added to their urgency to escape, and the two decide to work together to fight their way out of their predicament.

The two disagreed again, as Daryl wanted Rick to lead the walkers to the weakened bridge which was already on the verge of collapse, hoping the bridge would fail and send the hoard into the sea below. Rick, on the other hand, did not want to sacrifice the bridge and risk destroying the future he promised late son Carl (Chandler Riggs). So Rick went off alone to take the herd a safe distance from camp.

The herd was too large for him to handle alone, however, and the horse Rick had mounted earlier became frightened and knocked him directly onto a conveniently placed piece of rebar. Rick was impaled and lost consciousness, seemingly helpless in the path of the walkers.

Lincoln’s final episode, ‘What Comes After,’ will serve as a tribute to Lincoln’s eight-year run on the series, and will feature callbacks from his time on the show. Check out the tense moment from ‘The Obliged’ below, and don’t miss Rick’s last call on Sunday, November 4 on AMC.
