John Krasinski A Quiet Place 2

We’ve been waiting to hear about John Krasinski‘s involvement in ‘A Quiet Place 2‘ and now have learned that the actor is at the very least penning the script! Interestingly enough, Krasinski hadn’t planned on turning this into a franchise even though that seems to be the trend among successful horror films. Even when the studio was quick to greenlight a sequel, he had no plans in mind as it wasn’t really on his radar to continue with another outing of the world he helped craft.

According to Krasinski:

“That was my intention for the movie itself. Then I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, ‘Just go do the movie with somebody else.'”

However, while the studio had opened itself up to pitches from other writers, they weren’t going to turn down an idea from the initial creator and the actor couldn’t shake his idea. He finally shared it with producer Andrew Form of Platinum Dunes:

“They heard some pitches, and I told Drew about this little idea. And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”

While the script for the first film had been written by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, Krasinski made significant changes when he signed on to direct the movie. The entire opening sequences were redone as well as little details about how life in this world now had to be.

We’re not sure how fully involved he will be in the sequel but with how invested he was in the original, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him contributing quite a bit to ‘A Quiet Place 2’ when all is said and done.

Are you thrilled that John Krasinski is actively writing ‘A Quiet Place 2’? Do you think he’ll follow the events from the first film in this one or explore more of the alien-infested Earth and put the focus on another set of survivors? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

‘A Quiet Place 2’ will surely be making a lot of noise when it is released at your local theater on May 15th, 2020!
