There will be a “secret friend” returning for the eighth season of ‘American Horror Story,’ and I’m sure we can all agree that we’d love for it to be Jessica Lange! The upcoming season will be a stand-alone story but also serve as a crossover between both “Murder House” and “Coven.” The legendary actress has always been a fan-favorite and unfortunately has been absent since “Freak Show” or Season 4. Lange has been busy pursuing her other acting interests but has enjoyed working with director Ryan Murphy having joined him on ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ since her last outing on his anthology horror series.
The announcement of a surprise guest came thanks to Billy Eichner who shared the following photo on Instagram:
Now, this photo hinting at Lange is speculation as any of the ongoing cast from the show could be the secret character being referenced here. It doesn’t help that Murphy has long stated that he’d love for the actress to return and last year even went so far as to say that:
“I think she would if I bribed her enough, you know? I haven’t really talked to her about it at all because we are still figuring out that story, but I think we do want to do that.”
Here is hoping that the bribing worked as Lange reprising either role or both, would be both fantastic fan service and bringing us such pure talent back onto the show. We know that the upcoming season will already include Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Joan Collins, Denis O’Hare, Adina Porter, and Dylan McDermott. With this many familiar faces already it is anyone’s guess as to which cast member is returning. With “Murder House” involved we know that anyone who has already died has the potential for coming back as well.
