thedeathdefyingdoctormirageNot wanting to bank strictly on DC properties it looks as if The CW is dipping into a Valiant Entertainment property and bringing the acclaimed graphic novel ‘Dr. Mirage’ to television! DMG Entertainment (‘Iron Man 3′,’Looper’) is behind the production and this will be the first time that the company is getting its feet wet in televised content instead of feature films. Gary Dauberman (‘Annabelle‘,’Swamp Devil’) who has finished his writing duties on the upcoming reboot of Stephen King’s ‘It‘ is on board as an Executive Producer as well as to pen the series.

This will be the first time that a title by Valiant Comics is set to head to the small screen though with the ever increasing popularity of graphic novels being turned into films and episodic content it will unlikely be the last.

‘Dr. Mirage’ won’t be able to crossover into The CW’s other comic book superhero heavy lineup of ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Supergirl’, and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ but should find an audience in the same group of fans and be a good fit for the network.

The CW series was  co-created by Bob Layton and Bernard Chang and looks to be based on the most recent of ‘Dr. Mirage’ comics, specifically ‘The Death-Defying Doctor Mirage.’ In it, we’ll be following Carmen Mirage who is a paranormal private investigator who can communicate with the dead. She does so to solve cases though the only soul she cannot reach is her dead husband, Hwen. However, the case she handles here might hold the key to reaching Hwen and reuniting with her long-lost love.

As Dauberman has primarily worked in horror it would come as no surprise to see ‘Dr. Mirage’ go with a slightly darker tone than the comic. Of course, it is on The CW so it’s hard to say how dark it would actually go.

Are you looking forward to checking out ‘Dr. Mirage’? Do you think that we’re going to be in for something special or will it being on The CW change much of the core concepts from the comic? Share your thoughts below!
