Folks need to learn to stop jumping the gun when it comes to announcing major actors being cast in Marvel projects. It happened to Jason Statham while discussing being cast as Bullseye in Season 2 of ‘Daredevil,’ and it might be happening with Mads Mikkelsen for his role in ‘Doctor Strange.’ Despite reports from late August claiming that Mikkelsen was in talks to join the cast of ‘Doctor Strange,’ the actor has recently come out with a statement that definitely seems like nothing is final, and actually might not happen. In his words:

“I know as much as the rest of the world. So far it’s been rumors, so I’m waiting on a phone call”

Of course, this statement could just be a negotiation tactic, with Mikkelsen pretending to know nothing and care nothing about the project, but more likely it could be that he honestly has not been approached about the role, and people were just overly hopeful that Marvel might make an offer to him. The good news is that should Marvel ask him to partake in the MCU, he seems to enjoy the idea of the comic-book franchise movie, saying if they asked him, he would be:

“…Over the moon. It would be fantastic to be a part of the Marvel family. It’s something we all grew up with. We all have our heroes – and Doctor Strange is definitely one of the more interesting things.”

But once again, people should not get their hopes up before it is confirmed. Mikkelsen already had a shot at a Marvel movie, but had to turn it down due to his commitment to ‘Hannibal‘ (he was almost the villainous Dark Elf Malekith in ‘Thor: The Dark World’), and if he has another big project already in the works, it could once against occur that he will not have time to do a Marvel movie.

What are your thoughts on Mikkelsen joining the MCU? Do you think he’s being coy by pretending not to have heard anything about a role in ‘Doctor Strange?’ Share your opinion below!
