Channing Tatum, the star of the upcoming X-Men spinoff movie, ‘Gambit,’ recently did a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) Q&A session. While these sessions are meant to give fans a chance to see a more personal side of whoever is being interrogated, it’s only natural that some fans still want some juicy tidbits about their upcoming projects. So of course, several people asked about the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ movie and whether or not Tatum would be showing up in his role as Gambit, a mutant who has the power to infuse objects with enough kinetic energy to make them explode, even if it’s just a cameo. Unfortunately for Tatum/Gambit fans, his answer was, “No ma’am, or sir. I definitely will not.” He offered no other explanation I could find in the AMA thread.

In previous interviews he had suggested that he would like to do such a cameo, but this new statement is direct and clear enough. Obviously we don’t know why this is and it could be for any number of reasons. Perhaps there were scheduling conflicts or maybe they just couldn’t come up with a good enough reason to have Gambit make an appearance in time. Whatever the reason, it is a little sad, since a cameo would have been a nice way to hint at the upcoming Gambit movie and show that they’re in the same continuity. Especially since at this point it’s kind of hard for casual X-Men fans to tell which X-Men movies are canon and which aren’t.

While some fans were asking Tatum about ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ other fans asked him about a different apocalypse, specifically asking him about his zombie apocalypse plan. He said that his plan is to use an army of ninja chimpanzees to protect him, which seems a bit much like cheating, if you ask me. His backup plan of waiting things out at Sandra Bullock’s house sounds a bit more reasonable.

Are you sad to see that there won’t be a Gambit cameo in the ‘X-Men Apocalypse’

movie? Express your nerd rage in the comments below.
