With Duncan Jones working on the new ‘Warcraft‘ film, many out there may want to brush up on their lore from the games’ history. Now Dark Horse Comics and Blizzard Entertainment have teamed up to give us an ongoing series of books titled ‘World of Warcraft: Chronicle’ to enlighten us on the past of this gaming universe.

‘World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 1’ is due out this fall on November 4th, 2015 and “is a journey through an age of myth and legend, a time long before the Horde and the Alliance came to be.” This set of books is going to give us the groundwork of how the societies of Human and Orc came to be shaped the way they are and will show us “the birth of the cosmos, the rise of ancient empires, and the forces that shaped the world of Azeroth and its people.”

Sounds like the kind of history book that I can get behind!

According to Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment:

“We often get questions from players who want to know more about the origins of the Warcraft universe, and the rise and fall of their favorite characters. This new series digs deeply into all of that—we can’t wait for players to read it.”

So while we are going to be going pretty far back in the history off of the bat, it sounds as if we’ll also be getting details on characters further into the various game iterations as well.

When it is released in hardcover books they will contain over twenty full-page illustrations by Peter Lee who is one of the signature artists of the ‘Warcraft’ universe and this multi-part series will explore ” the Warcraft universe; from the distant past to the modern era.”

Dark Horse President Mike Richardson adds in that:

This is an amazing project that will be absolutely irresistible to the legion of Warcraft fans. The people at Blizzard have been great to work with and we are extremely happy and proud to be working with them.

With over 9.6 subscribers to the ‘World of Warcraft’, fans of the older games, and those interested from the upcoming film there are plenty of potential readers for this new series out there.
